Research Problem(s) Studied
I wish to solve the problem that many college students face across the country, which is lack of money to care for themselves. Self-care is such an important concept, and most students struggle with finances, so they do not have access to healthcare resources. This program I will implement will allow these students more access to the services they deserve and not put them in a situation of having to decide between their health or groceries for the week. Another problem this program will solve is allowing medical/nursing students to gain more experience before entering the workforce. I have spoken with many students in these programs, and they say they are already fearing going into the workforce because they “never feel ready”. This program will allow them more practice and the ability to practice their skills in a setting that will resemble the workforce.

I will be performing a survey of IU Indianapolis students about this topic. The reason I chose this method is because I want input from students that is specific. I have specific questions I want to ask, specific answers I am looking for and that will allow me to implement actions according to the responses given.

Part Two
When doing this research, I found more information than I thought would be uncovered. One of those people is how many people do not know that there are campus resources available such as clinics on campus. When looking at the results it looked like the majority of those who replied were sophomores and juniors are following closely behind. The range of majors was wide, students from the Kelley school of business all the way to the school of nursing. In total I was able to get about twenty student responses with my survey. After viewing my results, it was made clear to me that students would be willing to allow other students to provide care, but they would like a physician/professor in the facility with them. It did not occur to me that some would be nervous to allow their fellow students to see them and give them a recommendation as to how to move forward with care.
From this I learned that there is much room for improvement on this campus. There is an opportunity for growth because we will be killing two birds with one stone. I learned that the student body does not know enough about the opportunities on campus and I think that is a reason to add more and give more opportunity. These results will help me focus on making this idea more well known throughout campus. This also helps me to focus my marketing group, those who may struggle with income and also those who are in the medical field to get people to work in the clinics.
